Along with most of this year our Christmas season will not be as we know it. However, not to be deterred I thought I would share a Vintage Christmas Jacket of mine from the 1990s. Whilst I love the flattering lines and fit of this jacket it is not a fabric I would choose today. I don’t think it has a natural fibre in it. How times have changed. It also gave me the opportunity to reflect on my years of pure enjoyment when creating bespoke pieces.
The jacket was created for a Vogue Sewing Pattern Competition in the 1990’s. I also had to model it – I have to say I wasn’t very successful at that! I paired the jacket with wool crepe black shorts, opaque black tights and ankle boots. Later the wool shorts went on to become a favourite item of my teenage daughter. The jacket is still in pristine condition and come Christmas Day I may well wear it with some very wide palazzo pants and heals or with a pair of black skinny jeans and boots.
So this Christmas all does not have to be lost plus wearing vintage is going towards saving the planet in a small way.
Why not revisit your wardrobe if you prefer to avoid the shops this Christmas season. Whatever you are doing this Christmas, have fun and take care.
